NBA News: Anthony Davis Signs New Big Contract

One of the centerpieces of this historic NBA franchise, just agreed with Davis’s agent Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul (who also is Lebron James’ agent), to continue to play for the purple and gold, for five more seasons, the 30-year-old Davis who is still under contract, agreed to an extension that comes with highest per season average salary in NBA history.

He was in his option year, he could be a Free Agent when the next season was over just like his co-team member LaBron James, but instead, he will be a Laker for five years more. His average for his new contract per season will be $62 million, three years, and $186 million, and a supermax deal worth five years is $304 million. This extension alongside James makes this duo one of the most dominant in the league if they are healthy. This pushed the NBA odds to another level, where the Los Angeles Lakers can have big options to look for the ring.

SOFT REBUILT POST LEBRON

NBA Player Anthony DavisBut the Lakers want to keep on being contenders, what extension gives a signal is that James will pass on the baton to Davis and that the Lakers will build around Davis but stay competitive. He is a player that always signs the early contract, which happened after they won their last championship and also this franchise has always been a destination, once Lebron James finishes his relationship or leaves somewhere else or retires, there will be lots of superstars that would love to come to the team and play along a superstar like Davis. The Lakers don’t want to rebuild they want to reload, and Davis be their leader, he will have to learn from James to be that great leader. After this new contract expires he would have played seven years with the Pelicans and nine years with the Lakers. And at the end, he will be one of the big centers for the Lakers, behind Chamberlain, Abdul Jabbar, and Shaq O’Neal.

BY THE END OF HIS CAREER HE WOULD HAVE MADE $500 MILLION

The 6-10 Center and sometimes power forward (where he likes to play better) will finish his career as one of the best players paid in the game. Eight times All-Star was also picked as the league’s 75th-anniversary team. Will make about $40,6 million for next season, then a little higher for 2024-25 getting $43,2 million and then he starts the extension years and for the last three years he’ll make $750,000 for each season game.

Davis did miss a lot of games as usual in the past campaign but did have a strong and very good postseason, with good numbers. In the regular season of 25.9 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2,0 blocks per game, making him one of the most dominant centers in the league.

This can finish completing the roster for the next season, there is still some speculation that Rob Pelinka, Lakers General Manager, the new roster has D’Angelo Russell as their point guard, Austin Reeves as a point guard, and small forward, Rui Hachimura as a power forward, LeBron James small forward and Anthony Davis as a power forward and center. New pieces that will be added are Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, Taurean Prince, Maxwell Lewis Jalen Hood Schifino. Other plays that will be back to being, are Wenyen Gabriel’s power forward, Jarred Vanderbilt another power forward and center, Max Christie, Scottie Pippen Jr., and some other good athletes. This team looks more mature and versatile than the past season, the core that played and had success after the deadline last season will be together since training camp and to start the campaign for a new ride. The NBA Lines will be seeing this team in the spotlight, to see if they will be contenders or pretenders for the next season.
