Presidential Election Odds: Second Attempt on Trump

Presidential Election Odds: Second Assassination Attempt on Trump

Another apparent assassination attempt targeted Republican candidate Donald Trump at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to an FBI report. This incident comes just nine weeks after Trump survived a previous attack on his life. Although the former president is in good condition, the suspect is now in custody.

Chilling Discovery

Secret Service agents stationed near the area where Trump was playing noticed the barrel of an AK-type rifle protruding from the vegetation surrounding the golf course, approximately 400 yards away. One agent fired, causing the attacker to abandon the weapon and flee in an SUV, leaving behind the rifle, two backpacks, a scope, and a GoPro camera, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. The suspect has been apprehended.

Golf Assassination Attempt: Trump in Danger During Round

In a startling revelation, Fox News host Sean Hannity recounted his conversation with Steve Witkoff, a golf partner of former President Donald Trump. According to Hannity, while they were on the fifth hole and about to make a putt, they heard gunshots—“pop pop, pop pop.”

Within seconds, Secret Service agents “rushed” to protect Trump, shielding him from any imminent threat. The incident occurred following Trump’s return to Florida from his West Coast tour, which included a rally in Las Vegas and a fundraising event in Utah. Although the campaign team had not announced any public events for Trump on Sunday, the former president typically spends his mornings playing golf.

Since the assassination attempt in July, Trump’s security has been heightened. At his residence in Trump Tower in New York, garbage trucks form a barrier around the building, and at outdoor rallies, Trump now speaks from behind a bulletproof glass.

On Monday, acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe was scheduled to provide an in-person briefing to Trump regarding the investigation into the attack, according to a source close to the briefing’s planning.

While former presidents and their spouses receive lifetime Secret Service protection, the level of security varies depending on threats and exposure, with stricter measures immediately following their departure from office. Trump’s security has been more stringent than that of some other former presidents due to his high visibility and campaign to return to the White House. All these incidents can and will impact the Presidential Election Odds.
