NCAAF News: Dante Moore’s Transfer Portal Entry

UCLA quarterback and NCAAF star Dante Moore, a highly-touted five-star recruit from the Class of 2023, has made a significant move by entering the transfer portal. This decision opens up opportunities for several top college football programs to acquire promising talent. The program that acquires him will upgrade their NCAAF Lines

Moore’s Journey and Performance at UCLA

Initially committed to Oregon, Moore made a late switch to UCLA just before the early signing period last December. During his freshman year at UCLA, Moore played in nine games and started five. His performance, though showing potential, reflected his inexperience. Moore completed 53.5% of his passes for 1,610 yards, alongside 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Moore’s tenure as a starter was a mix of highs and lows. He showed promise against Coastal Carolina but struggled against stronger opponents like Utah and Oregon State, leading to a benching midway through the season. Ethan Garbers replaced Moore, who only returned to action due to an injury to Garbers in the season finale, a game where UCLA suffered a heavy loss to Cal.

Potential Landing Spots: Michigan and Michigan State

Moore’s entry into the transfer portal rekindles interest from top programs, particularly Michigan and Michigan State, who had previously recruited him. Michigan State emerges as a strong contender for Moore, especially with their top three quarterbacks entering the transfer portal. The presence of DJ Uiagalelei in the portal, who played under new Michigan State coach Jonathan Smith at Oregon State, adds to the intrigue. Moore would find an appealing opportunity at Michigan State, considering their current quarterback situation.

Michigan’s interest in Moore could hinge on the NFL Draft decision of J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy’s potential draft entry and the commitment of another top quarterback prospect for 2024, Jadyn Davis, make Michigan’s quarterback landscape more competitive. This scenario could make Michigan State a more viable option for Moore, where the pathway to a starting role seems clearer.

Implications for Moore and Interested Programs

Moore’s transfer decision is significant for both his career and the programs vying for his talent. A fresh start at a new school could unlock Moore’s potential, which was evident in flashes during his time at UCLA. For programs like Michigan State, securing a player of Moore’s caliber could be a game-changer, potentially elevating their offensive capabilities and NCAAF Odds.

Moore’s transfer saga will be closely watched in the coming weeks as it unfolds, impacting not only his future but also the dynamics of college football’s quarterback landscape in 2024. Programs will be keen to integrate Moore’s talents into their systems, hoping to harness his potential and guide him toward fulfilling his early promise as a five-star recruit.
