NFL SCHEDULE 2022 SEASON

When does the NFL season in 2022 start?

On Thursday, September 8th, the 2022 NFL season begins. The inaugural game is often hosted by the Super Bowl champions. The Los Angeles Rams’ season opener this year will be against the Buffalo Bills.

The season of 2022-23 lasts five months, ending on Sunday, February 12, 2023. At State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Super Bowl 57 will take place.

How is the NFL schedule determined on a regular basis?

We don’t know what each team’s week-by-week schedule will look like after the regular season is through. The teams that will compete against one another are known, nevertheless. The NFL has a system in place for choosing which clubs play against one another annually. Each team first plays twice against the other three teams in its division, once at home and once away from home.

A team plays an additional four games against a division from its conference, bringing the total number of games to 10. A division from the opposing conference is faced off four times by each team. These rotate every year over a three-year cycle.

Top matches for the 2022 NFL season

NFL 2022 | BUSR Star Week 1 Bills at Rams TNF

This may have been the Super Bowl rematch from the previous year if the final 13 seconds of the AFC Divisional Round had gone differently. Could the first game of the NFL season in 2022 serve as a Super Bowl preview with the Rams and Bills both having a chance to win their respective conferences? If so, having the identical matchup at the beginning and end of the season would make for some amazing symmetry.

NFL 2022 | BUSR Star Week 2 Titans at Bills MNF

For the Bills, things do not get any simpler. They start the season by playing back-to-back games in prime time versus playoff teams from the previous season. The good news is that they have 11 days between games to get ready for Derrick Henry’s brutal style. This game will serve as an intriguing early-season barometer for these two AFC teams.

NFL 2022 | BUSR Star Week 4 Chiefs at Buccaneers SNF

The Super Bowl 55 replay will air on NBC in Week 4 when the Chiefs play Tom Brady and the Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. Can Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs take payback after Tampa Bay defeated them in that game? After a difficult offseason, this game will serve as a decent gauge of Kansas City’s credentials.

Additional 2022 NFL schedule notes:
  • Twelve games, including two of the last three Super Bowls, will be Super Bowl rematches: Kansas City at Tampa Bay (Week 4, Super Bowl LV) and Kansas City at San Francisco (Week 7, Super Bowl LVII ).
  • Ten 2022 games are rematches of the 2021 playoffs, including the Week 13 (4:25 PM ET, CBS) matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals, a rematch of the AFC Championship Game.
  • The Chargers and Rams will meet for the first time during the regular season in Week 17 on Sunday Night Football (8:20 PM ET, NBC) at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
  • Week 13’s Detroit Lions vs. Jacksonville Jaguars game is set to feature the top two picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, Travon Walker and Aidan Hutchinson (1:00 PM ET, FOX).
