Green Bay Packers

Green Bay PackersOpening their season with a solid 38-20 victory over the Bears, the Packers then had a nail-biting 25-24 loss to the Falcons, followed by an 18-17 win against the Saints. Quarterback Jordan Love had a commendable performance, accumulating 259 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception, complemented by a rushing touchdown from 39 yards against the Saints.

However, their recent game against the Lions was less stellar. Trailing 27-3 in the first half, the Packers tried rallying post-break but suffered a 34-20 defeat. Love recorded 246 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. Top receiver Romeo Doubs managed 95 yards from nine catches, while Aaron Jones led the rushing game, albeit with a meager 18 yards from five carries.

The Packers boast a strong record in Monday games, having won their last six. They also have a knack for covering the spread in October road games against AFC teams, having done so for seven straight matches. Statistically, Green Bay ranks 1st in the NFL for kickoff return yards per game (62.5) and ties for 1st for Q4 points per game (10.3).

Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas RaidersThe Raiders started the season with a close 17-16 win against the Broncos but faced setbacks against the Bills (38-10) and the Steelers (23-18). Notably, Davante Adams showcased his skills with 173 receiving yards and two touchdowns against the Steelers.

In their last outing against the Chargers, the Raiders faced a 24-7 deficit at halftime. A comeback attempt yielded 10 unanswered points, but it wasn’t enough. Quarterback Aidan O’Connell threw for 238 yards and an interception. Josh Jacobs was the highlight, both rushing for 58 yards with a touchdown and leading in receptions with 81 yards from eight catches.

The Raiders have dominated their last four Monday games when playing as home underdogs. Moreover, they’ve consistently covered the spread in their recent four Week 5 matches. On a less positive note, the Raiders rank 32nd in the NFL for rushing yards per game (65.3) and tie for 31st in forced fumbles (0).

Prediction

While leaning towards Las Vegas for the win, this matchup could go either way. The Raiders showed promise against the Chargers but still had significant flaws, with only 264 total yards, a concerning 1-of-11 third-down conversion rate, three turnovers, and nine penalties amounting to 80 yards.

The Packers, meanwhile, had a dismal performance against the Lions, with just 230 total yards and a disappointing 3-of-11 third-down success rate. Nevertheless, given Green Bay’s extra preparation time, a robust performance wouldn’t be surprising. I’m taking the Packers to cover the -2 BUSR NFL Odds spread with caution.
