Kendrick Lamar to Headline Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show

Big Announcement Before the NFL Season Begins

Before the NFL’s opening Sunday games even kicked off, Kendrick Lamar stole the spotlight by announcing his upcoming performance at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show in February. In a video posted to YouTube, Lamar made motivational remarks while tossing footballs through a passing machine before introducing himself and revealing the exciting news.

The announcement was made in partnership with Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL. The highly anticipated event will occur on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and air on Fox.

“Will you be pulling up?” Lamar teased in the video. “I hope so… Wear your best dress, too, even if you’re watching from home. Let’s go.”

Roc Nation and NFL Partnership Continues

Jay-Z, founder of Roc Nation, which has produced six Super Bowl halftime shows since the entertainment company partnered with the NFL in 2019, praised Lamar in a news release. He called Lamar “a once-in-a-generation artist and performer,” noting his profound love for hip-hop and unique ability to influence global culture.

Roc Nation has previously tapped major stars like Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, Rihanna, and Usher for the halftime stage. This will mark Lamar’s second Super Bowl performance, having been part of the 2022 halftime show alongside Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem—a performance that won three Emmy Awards.

A Monumental Year for Kendrick Lamar

Despite not releasing a new album in 2024, Lamar has made headlines with his chart-topping hits and public performances. His song “Not Like Us” dominated the charts over the summer, and his collaboration with Metro Boomin and Future, “Like That,” reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year.

Lamar also performed at his sold-out Pop Out: Ken & Friends concert in Inglewood, California, on Juneteenth, which was live-streamed on Prime Video and Twitch. The show marked the end of his public feud with Drake, which began in 2023.

As for the upcoming Super Bowl, Lamar is set to make a statement about rap’s influence on global music. “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” Lamar said. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
