NFL Hall of Fame Game

NFL preseason officially kicks off with the 2025 Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, featuring a matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Detroit Lions. This highly anticipated exhibition will see two playoff teams from last season square off, with fans eager to catch a first glimpse of new faces and returning stars. Which teams will participate in the Hall of Fame Game?

One club from each conference participated in the Hall of Fame Game from 1971 through 2010. (AFC and NFC). That concept, however, ended in 2011 and was replaced by teams that had at least one prominent alumnus inducted that year to add intrigue to the game.

The Chargers have competed in the Hall of Fame Game multiple times, with their most recent appearance being in 1994. Interestingly, they made it to Super Bowl XXIX in that same season. They are also scheduled to play in the 2025 Hall of Fame Game against the Detroit Lions, coinciding with the induction of former Chargers tight end Antonio Gates.
