In California, the San Felipe Stakes belonged to the $2.4 million yearling Potente. In just his second career start, the Into Mischief colt survived a blistering pace and a desperate lunging finish to edge out 67-1 longshot Robusta by a nose.

By securing 50 points in his stakes debut, Potente now sits firmly in the Top 10 with 50 points. His victory sent a clear message to the betting markets: the Baffert barn has found its primary weapon for the first Saturday in May.
