Seattle Seahawks 2026 Season Preview
The 2026 Seahawks are the hunted, not the hunter, for the first time under Mike Macdonald. A 14-3 season and a Super Bowl LX title validated the bold offseason trades of Geno Smith and DK Metcalf a year ago, but Seattle now has to defend its crown without several key contributors from that championship roster.
A franchise-record 14-3 season, the NFL’s top-ranked defense by DVOA, and a Super Bowl LX win over New England, 29-13, capped a remarkable turnaround season for Sam Darnold and Mike Macdonald’s squad.
Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III signed with Kansas City. Edge rusher Boye Mafe, cornerback Tariq Woolen and safety Coby Bryant were all lost in free agency without direct replacements.
RB Emanuel Wilson, DE Dante Fowler, CB Noah Igbinoghene and S Rodney Thomas were added in free agency. The draft brought RB Jadarian Price in Round 1, along with S Bud Clark and CB Julian Neal. Seattle re-signed CB Josh Jobe and WR Rashid Shaheed, and extended Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Brian Fleury, formerly the 49ers’ run game coordinator and tight ends coach, takes over for Klint Kubiak, who left to become the Raiders’ head coach. Fleury shares the same Shanahan-tree scheme roots, so the offense should not require a full relearn for Darnold.
