Tramaine “The Mighty Midget” Williams goes the distance but falls short to Angelo Leo

BUSR News (Uncasville, CT) – Angelo Leo has won the WBO 122lb World Championship against Tramaine Williams in a unanimous 12 round decision.
Judges scored the fight between the two undefeated boxers 117-111, 118-110 and 118-110.
Williams won both of the first rounds but could not manage the constant body shots by Leo. Leo favoured close body shots and was able to deliver a flurry of shots that clearly wore down Williams as the rounds progressed.
Williams was better when he kept his distance and used a very effective jab but was not able to muster the hail mary needed in the final round to change the course of the fight.
Congratulations to Leo and respect to Williams for going the distance.

Saturday, August 1st 2020: Showtime presents the undefeated Tramaine “The Mighty Midget” Williams, sponsored by BUSR, against the undefeated super bantamweight Angelo Leo after Stephen Fulton was ruled out for testing positive for Covid19.
Williams was scheduled to fight Ra’eese Aleem at the Mohegan Sun Arena for the super bantamweight title eliminator. Now, The Mighty Midget will compete against Leo for the WBO 122lb title.
Both fighters boast undefeated records with Williams 19-0 (6 KOs) and Leo 19-0 (9 KOs).
While Williams is 27 years old, one year older than Leo, he brings a ferocious tenacity while respecting his opponents. The fact that The Mighty Midget is ready and willing to take a title shot illustrates the mental toughness and training of an elite level boxer. The ability to adapt at a moment’s notice is the hallmark of a warrior.
Williams’ 68″ reach will be tested to Leo’s 69″ reach while one can argue that Leo’s 2 inch height advantage at 5’6 may allow him a slight edge in the ring.
Both fighters have to adjust their game plans in order to compete against one another.
