Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs
The first Monday Night Football game of the 2026 season brings an AFC West rivalry to Arrowhead Stadium as the Denver Broncos visit the Kansas City Chiefs.
Both starting quarterbacks return after injuries ended their 2025 campaigns, but this matchup goes well beyond Bo Nix vs. Patrick Mahomes. Denver brings one of the NFL’s most disruptive defensive fronts into Kansas City, while the Chiefs begin the season with questions along the offensive line and a new running back in Kenneth Walker III.
Below, we break down the latest NFL Odds, the biggest matchup advantages, player props, and our best bets for Broncos vs. Chiefs. Whether you want to Bet on NFL games throughout the season or specifically Bet on Monday Night Football, this matchup gives bettors several markets worth watching before kickoff.
Broncos vs. Chiefs Game Information
Denver opens its season on the road against its biggest divisional rival, while Kansas City begins at home with Patrick Mahomes returning for his first regular-season action since the knee injury that ended his 2025 campaign.
Bo Nix also returns after his postseason ended because of injury. Denver surrounds him with Courtland Sutton, Jaylen Waddle, Marvin Mims Jr., Evan Engram, and J.K. Dobbins, giving the Broncos multiple ways to attack Kansas City.

Broncos vs. Chiefs NFL Odds
The latest NFL Odds at BUSR make Kansas City a short home favorite for Monday Night Football betting. With less than a field goal separating the teams, the point spread becomes the most interesting market in this matchup.

Broncos vs. Chiefs Betting Analysis
The Betting Handicap begins with Denver’s pass rush.
Kansas City still has Mahomes, Andy Reid, and one of the most dangerous offensive systems in football. The question is how aggressively the Chiefs want to expose Mahomes in his first regular-season game back.
Kenneth Walker III gives Kansas City another way to control the game. If the Chiefs establish the run early, they can reduce obvious passing situations, protect Mahomes from unnecessary hits, and shorten possessions.
Denver also enters the season with more offensive flexibility. Waddle gives the Broncos legitimate vertical speed, Sutton remains a trusted possession and red-zone target, Engram can attack the middle of the field, and Dobbins gives Denver another option out of the backfield.
That offensive balance is important because Kansas City cannot simply crowd the middle of the field and dare Denver to win outside.
Key Matchups to Watch
Denver Pass Rush vs. Patrick Mahomes
This matchup drives the handicap. If Denver creates pressure without sending extra rushers, the Broncos can keep additional defenders in coverage and make Kansas City work for every possession.
Bo Nix vs. Kansas City’s Secondary
Nix does not need to win a shootout. Denver needs him to protect the football, stay ahead of the chains, and punish Kansas City when the Chiefs give the Broncos favorable one-on-one matchups.
Kenneth Walker III and the Game Script
Walker’s workload could tell us quickly how Kansas City intends to handle Mahomes’ return. A run-heavy approach could shorten the game and support both Denver +2.5 and the under.

Broncos vs. Chiefs Best Bets
Best Bet
This is the bet I like most on Monday Night.
Denver has multiple paths to keep this game within one score. The Broncos can pressure Mahomes, defend without constantly blitzing, and lean on an offense with enough weapons to avoid becoming one-dimensional.
I do not need Denver to win outright. I need the Broncos to stay within a field goal, and the matchup gives them several ways to do exactly that.
Kansas City can absolutely win at Arrowhead, but laying points requires trusting that the Chiefs’ offense immediately looks like the version bettors are used to.
I would rather take the points with Denver.

Under 43.5 (-110)
The under is my second favorite bet. Mahomes’ return, Denver’s defensive strength, and the possibility of Kansas City leaning more heavily on Walker all point toward a controlled game script.
Denver has no reason to push the pace if its defense keeps the game close. A game played primarily in the low 20s fits both the matchup and the Denver +2.5 position.
Kenneth Walker III First Touchdown (+500)
Walker is my preferred touchdown bet. If Kansas City gets into scoring range early, he gives Reid a straightforward way to finish the possession while limiting unnecessary exposure for Mahomes.
Courtland Sutton First Touchdown (+1100)
Sutton is the higher-upside touchdown bet. Waddle’s speed should force Kansas City to defend more of the field, creating additional one-on-one opportunities for Sutton around the goal line.
Broncos vs. Chiefs Betting Pick
I expect a competitive divisional game that stays within one possession deep into the fourth quarter.
Kansas City still has Mahomes, Reid, and home-field advantage, so I am not calling for an outright Denver upset. But the Broncos have the defensive profile to make this difficult and enough offense to stay in the game.
