He stayed strong through the wire, fending off Intellect to win by 1 1/4 lengths in a snappy 1:33.87. Out west at Del Mar, the dirt belonged to Seismic Beauty. The Bob Baffert-trained filly continued her meteoric rise by winning the Clement L. Hirsch (G1) in wire-to-wire fashion. After posting fractions of :22.85, :46.63, and 1:10.32, she had enough in the tank to hold off Kopion by 1 1/2 lengths in 1:42.33.

This marked her third straight win, following scores in an allowance race and the Santa Margarita (G2). The Clement L. Hirsch was her first Grade 1 triumph and awarded her a “Win and You’re In” berth for the Breeders’ Cup Distaff. With her tactical speed and resilience, Seismic Beauty has quickly become one of the top older female dirt runners in the country.

 

Far Bridge Eyes Repeat in Sword Dancer

 

This Saturday brings another major turf clash as the Sword Dancer (G1) headlines the Saratoga card. At stake is a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, and Far Bridge enters as the horse to beat. The reigning Sword Dancer champion has won three of four starts this year and is fresh off a sharp victory in the Bowling Green (G2).

He’ll face a deep group of international and domestic challengers. Nations Pride, a multiple Group 1 winner, returns to U.S. soil after a disappointing run in Dubai.
